A few notes concerning the seminars:

  • We are fortunate that both seminar areas have concrete floors. We are asking everyone to police the area where they’re carving at the end of each day. That should keep the chips down to a reasonable level. On Friday when all the seminars wrap up, a thorough cleaning of all the seminar areas is necessary. Don’t think that “someone else will do it”. Everyone is responsible for the cleanup.
  • If you are using a carving stand that sits on the floor, please bring something to set it on, like a carpet remnant or rubber pad. If you are clamping a holding device to the table, you need to cushion that also. We need your cooperation to make a good impression in order to be invited back for years to come. If you are going to be standing for most of your carving session, we recommend bringing some sort of floor mat to stand on for your comfort. You also may want to bring a comfortable chair to sit on unless a folding chair works for you.
  • If your instructors are going to be painting or staining, we asked them to make sure the tables are covered very adequately in order to protect them. Please be very careful during the painting sessions to avoid any spills.
  • Lunch is available daily!!! There is a snack bar located right in Pearson Hall. They will be open from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM daily to serve your lunch needs. You can’t get any handier than that! They will be serving sandwiches (Sloppy Joes, BBQ Pork, Chicken Salad, Polish Sausage, Hot Dogs), Pizza Slices, Soup, Nachos, Chips, Ice Cream Bars, Candy, etc. etc. The menu will vary somewhat daily.
  • Lighting is not the best so you have to adjust accordingly. Bring your own supplemental lighting as well as a power strip and an extension cord. Please do not complain about the lighting; do something about it by bringing your own! Hot blooded? Cold blooded? It’s hard to regulate the air-conditioning to suit everyone. More than likely it will be cooler than warmer, so if you chill easily bring a sweatshirt, sweater or whatever.
